MercyOne North Iowa established the Family Medicine Residency program in 1974 as a community-based, university-affiliated residency. The program has graduated more than 188 residents to date. Over the past thirteen years, more than 85 percent of the graduates have chosen to practice in rural communities (one of the highest percentages in the nation). Why should you consider the MercyOne Family Medicine Residency? • We pride ourselves on the fact that we offer high-quality education that prepares resident physicians for a prosperous career as a family physician. You will receive quality training in both the clinic and hospital settings. You will have the opportunity to build the knowledge and skills of a “full-scope” family physician. • The support system from colleagues and faculty that you need at work and after hours. • The benefits of working for a Top 100 Hospital, which has a commitment to patient care and education. Work with a broad scope of specialists, but a small enough medical staff to learn everyone. • The benefits of living in a small city. Mason City offers all the advantages of living in a small city, including a safe and affordable environment in which to work, live, and play, with the amenities of living in a regional hub. For these, and many other reasons, you should consider the MercyOne Family Medicine Residency and North Iowa as a wonderful place to learn, work, and grow as a physician and as a person. Please come see us in person and find out why we say, “There is a something special here.”
