Founded in 1995 by our first Chair, J. Mack Worthington, MD, FAAFP, we have held on to his goal of bringing the ideals of Family Medicine to the campus of a tertiary care medical center in Chattanooga. We practice inpatient care in the 7th largest public hospital system in the country comprising over 650 beds. Erlanger serves as a level 1 trauma center and contains the region's only children's hospital. Our Family Medicine Residency is a three-year program that sponsors a total of seven residents per level of training, included in our program is a new Rural Family Medicine Track with one resident at each level. We offer a wide breadth of training including inpatient medicine, obstetrics, pediatrics, geriatrics, sports medicine, lifestyle medicine and office based procedures. Graduates go on to a variety of practice types, we also boast a 100% percent fellowship match rate in various fellowships including Surgical Obstetrics, Sports Medicine, Palliative Care and Emergency Medicine. Chattanooga is a medium sized metropolitan area that is centrally located between several major cities like Atlanta, Nashville and Asheville. We have great weather and unlimited access to the great outdoors in the Scenic City!
