St. Joseph Eureka Family Medicine Program
The Providence St. Joseph Hospital Eureka Family Medicine Residency Program offers a truly distinctive training experience rooted in rural, full-spectrum family medicine on California’s beautiful North Coast. Located in Humboldt County, the program prepares physicians to become resourceful, autonomous leaders capable of delivering high-quality care in underserved and rural communities. Residents train in a unique partnership between Providence St. Joseph Hospital Eureka and Open Door Community Health Centers, an FQHC, while learning from a broad network of specialty and community physicians. As the regional medical center serving a three-county area, residents gain diverse clinical experiences, meaningful continuity with patients, and opportunities to develop the skills needed to practice comprehensive family medicine in communities where they are needed most. The program is strengthened by strong community support, close faculty mentorship, and a mission-driven commitment to serving vulnerable populations while fostering leadership, adaptability, and excellence in patient care.
