Thundermist Family Medicine Residency of Woonsocket
Thundermist FMRP of Woonsocket is excited to welcome it's inaugural intern class in July of 2027 in affiliation with Tufts University School of Medicine.
Thundermist Health Center is a multi-site federally qualified health center serving over 65,000 patients across Rhode Island. The residency clinic and hospital rotations are based in Woonsocket, RI, a diverse and medically underserved community located just 20 minutes from Providence, RI and 45 minutes from Boston, MA. Thundermist has a deep commitment to high-quality medical care, health equity, and provider wellness.
Outpatient continuity clinic training occurs primarily at Thundermist Health Center, with inpatient experiences at Landmark Medical Center and additional specialty rotations with regional partners. Several elements distinguish the Thundermist FM Residency:
-FQHC-based training, providing experience in full-spectrum care of diverse and medically complex populations
-Integrated behavioral health model
-Rural health training: dedicated 4-week rotation each year on Block Island
-Social justice and health equity curriculum: clinical experiences caring for unhoused populations, patients with infectious diseases, and individuals receiving OBAT
-Progressive continuity clinic experience
-Strong OB training in partnership with a family medicine obstetrics fellowship
