The Northeast Georgia Medical Center (NGMC) Family Medicine Residency Program is a three-year training program offering residents the full scope training and clinical experience necessary to comprehensively manage a population of patients throughout the lifespan. In our community-based program, residents will have hands on experience with directing care focused on prevention and master chronic disease management.

Residents receive additional training in:

  • Population Health Management
  • Global Health
  • Leadership
  • Billing and Coding
  • LEAN/Quality Improvement
  • Behavioral Health

Because we serve patients from 18 counties across Northeast Georgia, family medicine residents will get a broad base training that will enable them to practice confidently in any setting, albeit rural, suburban, or internationally.

The Family Medicine Curriculum places emphasis on team-based learning and includes multidisciplinary rounding within our FMP and inpatient settings. We have comprehensive didactic program to supplement to hands on procedural training with responsive, life-like simulators.  Our 22,000 SQ. foot state of the art FMP uses a “clinic first” approach that prioritizes consistent continuity clinics to maximize longitudinal learning.
