FROEDTERT MENOMONEE FALLS HOSPITAL FAMILY MEDICINE RESIDENCY PROGRAM

The mission of the Froedtert Menomonee Falls Hospital Family Medicine Residency Program is to train and develop outstanding individuals to become excellent family physicians for our health system, region, and beyond. This program was established in 2017, as a partnership between the Medical College of Wisconsin’s Department of Family & Community Medicine and Froedtert Health, to address the growing need for compassionate and skilled family physicians for the state of Wisconsin.

PROGRAM BACKGROUND

The program is focused on developing full spectrum family medicine physicians with the skills necessary to practice in any setting. The village of Menomonee Falls is situated at the crossroads of 4 counties which make up ~25% of the population of Wisconsin. Our residents have opportunity to serve rural, suburban, and urban communities throughout their training.

In April 2017, we opened our doors with our inaugural class moving into a brand new, state of the art 19,000 square foot Family Medicine Practice housed in Town Hall Health Center, a multi-disciplinary medical center. In 2019, we added Good Hope Health Center located in North Milwaukee to increase access for our patients. The majority of the program’s inpatient training is found just across the street from our primary clinic site at Froedtert Menomonee Falls Hospital, a community-based hospital affiliated with a larger health system.

As the only residency in our community hospital setting, our residents receive individualized learning helping them develop into full spectrum family physicians. Since our founding, we have provided residents with six months of electives, allowing residents to develop personalized training to suit their future practices.

PROGRAM DIRECTOR’S WELCOME

Welcome to Froedtert Menomonee Falls Hospital Family Medicine Residency Program! I am excited to introduce you to our program. I truly believe that our residents have unique opportunities not available at every family medicine program.

Our program encourages residents to be lifelong learners, gathering the skills to adapt to meet the needs of any community. Being the only residency program in Menomonee Falls allows our residents the chance to work closely with specialists to become more comfortable managing complex medical and psychiatric problems.

Although housed in a community-based hospital, our affiliation with Froedtert Health and the Medical College of Wisconsin also allows for broader specialty access as well as state of the art equipment and simulation training centers to ensure the very best resources for our residents. The village of Menomonee Falls, which is the largest village in the state, offers a small town feel while allowing easy access to all the sights and attractions of a larger metropolitan area. Milwaukee, Madison, and Chicago are all within easy driving distance.

We are eagerly anticipating meeting the next class of residents to join us on this exciting journey!

Sincerely,

Kwanza Devlin, MD, FAAFP
Program Director, Froedtert Menomonee Falls Hospital Family Medicine Residency Program
