Mercy Family Medicine, accredited by the ACGME with Osteopathic Recognition, emphasizes mission-minded medicine through community health, advocacy and global rotations. Eighteen residents, 9 faculty physicians, 3 clinical pharmacists and 1 psychologist practice team-based care for a patient population of approximately 10,000 in western St. Louis County. The program uses a Clinic First standard, modeling the role of a practicing family physician. The inpatient service is integrate, meaning residents care for laboring/postpartum patients, newborns, children and adults at the same time, modeling quintessential family medicine. PGY2 particularly emphasizes community health through rotations, advocacy, retreat and social justice didactics.
