We are extremely pleased that you have an interest in our Family Medicine Residency Program at the University of Kentucky! We have an excellent program that prepares and trains the next generation of Family Physicians.

-Legacy- In 1972, our department was established for the purpose of training Family Physicians to provide primary care for the state of Kentucky. Since then, our residency program has graduated 300 plus Family Physicians.

-Mission - We strive to improve the health of the people of the Commonwealth and society at large.

-Goal - Our goal is to recruit excellent students, to provide exceptional training individualized to each resident’s needs, and to graduate Family Physicians who will become well-respected clinicians in their community.

-Experiences- Our residents get the best experience by training in a busy Academic Medical Center as well as by providing continuity inpatient care in a smaller, more patient-centered, community hospital within UK HealthCare.  We utilize community sites both in Lexington and the surrounding rural communities, allowing our program to have the best of both worlds and to prepare our residents for a wide variety of patient care needs. We also have high quality track opportunities for our residents.

-Commitment- Our engaged and nurturing faculty have a variety of interests including Integrative Medicine, Women’s health, Population health, Sports Medicine, and LGBTQ health.

-Atmosphere- Teamwork, respect, compassion and integrity are our values. Residents work with a group of committed staff, faculty and others who provide a very supportive learning atmosphere. I invite you to consider joining us and becoming part of our tradition of excellence at UK Healthcare.
