The VCU-Shenandoah Valley Family Practice Residency is a 5-5-5 resident rural-focused program in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, 70 miles west of Washington DC. We have 2 campuses: small town family practice next to our small community hospital for main practice admissions, and a 440-bed 3-state referral medical center 20 miles away for high-volume specialty rotations. Locoated in an outdoor paradise, with Shenandoah National Park on the edge of town, the huge George Washington National Forest to the west, and the Shenandoah River running through town. 4-season, family friendly area. While our graduates practice in all settings, more than half practice in small towns and rural areas, showing their comfort with broader practice.
